Koh Chang, is a lovely little island just off Thailand's main land, very
close with the border of Cambodia.

Ko Chang is the island nearest Thailand coastline on the left of the above map!

So if Pattaya gets a bit too much partying, we go down to chill out.

it takes about 4 hours travel (by car) from Pattaya, which sounds
a lot but it really isn't that that bad, about 3 hours are taken up
driving mainland through some lovely territory.


and the last hour is mainly on a car- ferry which is ace, beautiful views
along the coastline.

and a short drive down the island to the hotels.




Royal coconut resort 0817817078 boss called O just O. try to avoid weekends and bank holidays can get over croweded room wise but the beeches still always seem very empty and to yourselfes!











These are Chiet Chet resort and very nice too. on the same resort as royal coconut and its sister company!

The island has some wonderful things to keep you occupied and
its not touristy, like some, no-one trying to sell you timeshare etc.

You can even rent a hotel room above sea!

where to stay, the island has many hotels and resorts and two
different major beaches, with many smaller ones, i would class
the two beeches like this,white sand is a bit more lively nightlife
and a bit busier, Klan prao (think its called) is very more relaxed
and the beach is massive with many a time not one person on it!

Lovely deserted beeches make it an ideal retreat!

I tend to stay klan prao, in either the Royal coconut, or the Chiet
chet resort, both are on the same stretch and both ok, sometimes
one has an offer on so i check out prices at both.

But as a rough guide 2,000 a night high season should be more than enough.

The island has waterfalls and forests you can go walking through,
get rid of the alcohol out of your system and at the far end of the
island is a little village called bang bao (i think), its built over the
sea on stilts and has a new harbour, its well worth a visit with
some lovely shops and restaurants.
